Global car manufacturer Toyota unveiled their latest Toyota Corolla Furia concept car at the recent Detroit Motor Show. The concept’s design shows where the brand’s sketch pen is heading in terms of designs and a possible new ‘look’ for their upcoming models.

Stretching its wheels, the Furia features a longer wheel base compared to the model it will replace.  Except for the Japanese company’s emblem, there are no other exterior features that resemble the previous Corolla models. The design has moved from simplistic, to a more modern and aggressive look.

The features that emphasise the car’s modern look include slit eye headlamps and a bigger grill. The newly designed boot spoiler, edged by arrow shaped rear lights, enhances the car’s sleek yet aggressive aesthetic rear. Toyota is definitely taking a bold step with the changes made to their all-time best seller. Although the Corolla is regarded as a family car, it may see an addition to its customer base with the new design that seems more inviting to a wider variety of customers.

The Furia concept car continues to head in a similar design direction as the FT-86 that has brought enthusiasm to the brand. Details of the upcoming vehicle have not been released but sources suggest that it could be production-ready by 2014.
