2013 Car wish list



Latest offerings from different manufacturers that will be heading to the South African motoring market throughout 2013



The New Year is promising in terms of the variety of vehicles that are set to come to the South African Motoring market. Shipped in from all over the world and assembled at local assembly plants will be the latest and facelifted models that are set to have South Africans looking at their cars and contemplating on visiting show rooms. 

Hatchbacks

Hatchbacks have been a favourite in the South African motoring scene, 2013 hatch offerings will include the all new Golf 7 range, Toyota's Auris gets a longer body, Ford also brings in a revised Fiesta and the Mercedes A class will also grace the market with its presence. On a more exciting level, the hot hatch market will be joined by a 206 kW Opel OPC,  220kW Audi S3 and the Golf 7 GTI which all will challenge rivals which are already  roaming South African highways including the 184kW Ford Focus ST3 and the 200kW Renault Mégane RS amongst others.

Saloons & Sedans

Sedans and Saloons will see the introduction of a more fuel efficient BMW 316i model to the F30 3 series range, BMW M enthusiast and power junkies have to wait until the third quarter of the tear for the F30 M3. Korean Manufacturer KIA will ship in the Cerato saloon and a new 2.4 liter engine will be fitted in the Optima, Mazda will add the 2013 Mazda 6 to the market. Audi`s A3 model has never been associated with saloons but the manufacturer introduces its first A3 saloon. Merecedes Benz adds its elegance to the market with the E and S Class.

Convertibles and Cabriolets

In the style league Volkswagen`s Golf 6 GTI loses its roof with a Cabriolet version of the Hot Hatch which the last GTI cabriolet in South African was seen it the times of the golf 3.  French manufacturer Citreon brings in the DS3, making its debut in the cabriolet market with a DS3 Cabrio that will be powered by a 1.6 liter engine. As featured in TYM`s December issue (Drop top Decmber) the Jaguar F-Type roadster heads to South Africa.

SUV  & Compact SUV

One of the SUV`s that has been receiving good reviews from motoring Journalists for its weight shedding of 420 kg and overall build quality, the 2013 Range Rover will make its way to South Africa blessing us with its head turning V8 sound track. The Porsche Macan compact SUV which is said to be the biggest-selling local offering by Car Magazine will welcome buyers who want the Porsche drive and quality at an affordable price. Other compact SUV`s heading to SA are the Mitsubishi Outlander, Infiniti FX, Honda CR-V SUV and the Chevrolet Trax these will be some of the high riding vehicles that will tackle our on and off road terrains.  

With the variety of vehicles coming in to our market buyers will be spoilt for choice whilst having to figure out which set of keys to take at different showrooms.
